Howdy! Yesterday was Texas Independence Day, so I decided to talk about the flag of the Lone Star State. Where did Texas get the nickname the Lone Star State? What do you call a person addicted to all things Texas? Find out on my blog!
After declaring independence from Mexico, it was time to create a flag for the newly formed Republic of Texas.
The colors were chosen for their symbolism: blue means fidelity and devotion, white – purity, red – courage. The lone star represents the unity of the Texans to one God, state, and country. ⠀
⠀
This unity has continued to this day. And the Texas flag is the only state flag allowed to be flown at the same height as the American flag.
I came up with a list of Texas-related things I heard of there and created this Tex-a-holic bingo game! If the statement in the box applies to you, just check the box. Then count the number of ticks and you will find out what percentage you are “Texaholic”. If you like it, you can download it to your computer and even print it off.
Have fun, y’all!
P.S. I am 54% texaholic, what is your score? 🙂
