A medieval Christmas fairytale village

Riquewihr, France

The Christmas market of Riquewihr is one of the most picturesque markets I have ever seen!

This 16th-century village is a real hidden gem of Alsace, mostly known for its historic architecture and delicious wines. Riquewihr is listed among the most beautiful villages in France but during Christmas time it looks like a fairy tale! Its cobbled streets are decorated with holiday lights, half-timbered houses are swamped with festive décor and ornaments.

Try mulled wine from a stand at the restaurant Au Vieux Riquewhir. You can take it to go and keep exploring the streets sipping the delicious beverage. I usually keep those Christmas market mugs as a souvenir.

A trip to the medieval town of Riquewihr would not be complete without visiting the Christmas specialty store “Féerie de Noel”.
