If there is one thing that can make me drop everything and jump on a train to Geneva, it’s this tree!
Geneva’s most iconic magnolia has officially decided it’s her time to shine, and she is truly a sightseeing destination all on her own! She is so much more than just a tree – she’s a living piece of art that takes my breath away every single year!
How to plan your visit?
If you’re planning your own trip (and you really should!), here is the “simply happy” way to do it:
- Timing is Everything: She is officially in full bloom right now. Magnolias are notoriously sensitive to frost and wind, so if the sun is out today, go today!
- The Perfect Combo: Grab your favorite drink to-go from a nearby café (I love the vibe at Le Kiosque des Bastions) and claim the bench right in front of the blooms.
- Breathe it In: When you get close, just stop and inhale. The scent is so immersive, it feels like you’ve stepped inside an entire orangery of flowers!
- Capture the Magic: The light is dreamiest just before sunset, when the petals seem to glow against the soft “blue hour” sky.
