If you’re eager to experience spring in a full bloom, make sure to check out the following spots:
Parc de l’Elysée, Lausanne
All these pictures were captured in a park next to the Elysee Museum in Lausanne. I was really lucky to see them in full bloom.
Piscine Mon Repos, Lausanne
You will find cherry trees just above the indoor parking area, directly opposite the pool (piscine). Complete your “hanami” (“flower viewing”) experience by grabbing a bite at the Japanese restaurant with outdoor seating!
Secret Garden of the Evangelical Reformed Church
This church courtyard is a hidden gem in the heart of Lausanne. If you’re lucky and the gate is open, you can step into a beautiful little garden of blooming cherry trees.
Address: Chemin des Cèdres 7, 1004 Lausanne
Arboretum du vallon de l’Aubonne
I personally loved the variety of cherry and plum tree species blooming in this park. It’s a fantastic half-day activity! Please note, there’s an entrance fee (10 CHF) from April through October. More information available here
Address: Chemin de Plan 92, Aubonne
Bus stop Eysins, Terre Bonne nord, Nyon
While driving by Nyon, I spotted dozens of sakura trees. There’s a long alley (Route de Crassier) with beautiful trees, though they hadn’t quite reached full bloom during my visit.
Parc de l’Ariana, Geneva
Next to the Ariana Museum of Ceramics and Glass Arts, this park features twenty cherry trees gifted on the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan, blooming in pink and white hues.
Jardin des Alpes / Monument Brunswick , Geneva
In the heart of Geneva, behind the Brunswick Monument, several cherry trees are currently blooming in a small park.
Bus Stop “Grand Saconnex, Place”
Spot a few plum trees located at Pl. de Carantec, just opposite Bus Stop “Grand Saconnex, Place.”
Avenue de Bude, Geneva
Find a few young cherry trees blooming near the permanent mission of Norway, easily accessible.
Cherry trail
This easy, family and stroller-friendly hiking trail has numerous cherry trees. As this village is situated in the northern part of Switzerland, it’s advisable to visit it later than other locations. For more information, click here
Address: Landstrasse 38, Gipf-Oberfrick
I’ve also created a Flower Bloom Map to guide you not only to cherry trees but also to many more blossoming beauties in the Swiss Romandy area.
