This year, my husband and I decided to make our dates more meaningful by trying alphabet dates. I went first, so today I’m sharing some simple A-date ideas in Switzerland.
Animal Shelter
Spending time with adorable shelter animals can lead to an instant bond and maybe even becoming an instant “pawrent” (paws + parent 🙂 Here is the list of the nearest animal shelters I found:

While a classic afternoon tea followed by a stroll may not be exactly our “cup of tea, “ I love this versatile afternoon date option!

Axe throwing is becoming more popular in Switzerland. Here are three locations near Geneva, Lausanne, and Vevey that I found to help release your inner Viking!
Art galleries, or an art masterclass
Perfect indoor winter date option! We had already done this experience at “painting with a Twist” in Texas and we had a lot of fun! So don’t hesitate to take your better half and check their painting skills!
Ancient Sites
If it weren’t winter, we’d love to explore ancient landmarks! Here are some ideas in the Lake Geneva region: Medieval ruins of the Charterhouse of Oujon – the oldest ruins in Switzerland, the Pyramids of Vidy, and the Roman ruins in Nyon.

Air Balloon Ride
Take your date to new heights with a memorable air balloon adventure! We already went to this festival on our early dates and we both loved it!
Airboard
For an adrenaline rush, try airboarding! I discovered this cool activity available in Suisse Romande here (Available for adults, rental open from 2 to 5 pm) but make sure to check weather conditions before heading out! So call this number (it’s a restaurant don’t be confused) 0223601688 and ask beforehand!
Update: Our outdoor plans fell through due to a lack of snow, so we improvised with a delicious Asian restaurant date instead. Here’s one of our favorite spots in Gland!
