3 spots to chill in Poetto beach

Poetto is one of the most popular beaches of Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy)! Its sandy shore stretches as far as 8 kilometres. If you are looking for suggestions as to where to relax, here are my 3 favorite spots!

#3. Just opposite the Bus Stop Poetto fronte vecchio Ospedale

This place is easily accessible by bus. You can buy a ticket directly from the driver or via mobile app on your smartphone. There are several “express” routes that can take you from the port of Marina to Poetto within 20 minutes.

When you get off the bus, walk towards the sea. You will see the ruins of a small medieval tower. Behind it there is a wide-open sandy beach. You can bring your own towels to lay on the sand or rent sun beds and umbrellas for a few euros.  Cafes, restaurants and a supermarket are also conveniently located within 5 min walking distance.

The only drawback to this area is a scary abandoned gray building on the beach and numerous salesmen trying to sell you their wares.  Fortunately, we were lucky enough to meet a friendly, funny vendor from Bangladesh who sold us food and drinks.

#2. Beer Beach

We were attracted by the name of this spot. Although it was more expensive to rent a beach bed and umbrella than other places in Poetto, the beauty of the spot all but made up for it.  The palm tree shaped umbrellas and good lounge music provided for a perfect relaxing atmosphere.

One of the features of Beer Beach were awesome floating mattresses fixed in the sea.  A perfect spot for those who want to tan quickly . Next to it was a floating, inflatable obstacle course similar to those seen on game shows (such as« Wipeout»).

The menu was limited in choice, but food was delicious.

In general the service was excellent, although some things could be improved. Towels were “not included”, the pleasant music was barely audible on the beach, and the Wi-Fi signal was very weak.

The rope stretching around the perimeter of the beach did not provide any exclusivity to the place.

#1. My favourite spot in Poetto – Jinny Beach

How often have you felt that your vacation flew by before it began? My favorite spot does just that as the place takes you away from reality. If such a place interests you, then look no further than Jinny Beach!

When you arrive in Jinny Beach, you will be taken back by this modern, picturesque location! Light, tropical music, and smiling staff greet you as you enter the beach.  Snow white beach beds, chairs, and cabins give you a feeling of exclusivity and luxory.

The staff seem to have cared for the beach down to the smallest detail! Sunbeds may cost the same as on a public beach, but they include a towel! The service was excellent. For example, you can order food directly from the beach by scanning a bar code on your table and voila! In a few minutes you will have a freshly made smoothie in front of you! Such technology is rarely seen on other beaches. This leads to the next perk, great wifi signal throughout the beach.

Even though there is a set lunch and dinner time, you can still order delicious sandwiches throughout the day!

Jinny Beach also lets you rent jet skis, as long as you have a boat license. An alternative for non-boat operators is a ride on an inflatable banana.

Perhaps the most difficult task was to find the flaws in Jinny Beach. This beach is farther from the port than others… but believe me, it’s worth it.

Hopefully this provided you with some suggestions where to tan in Poetto !

And a bonus for those who read to the end… 🙂

Directly beyond the coast of Poetto, you can see a pond inhabited with pink flamingos! (Parco Naturale Regionale Molentargius-Saline).
