3 unexpected eco-friendly things I wish I took with me sailing

French Polynesia

After an amazing week of sailing, one thing that would not leave my mind was how we could improve the environmental impact of this boat trip.  We did not run the engine while parked, barely used the A/C, and docked in one spot for 4 days, not only because Bora Bora is amazing but also to save fuel. But there is always something more we could do for our planet, right?

So here are 3 additional eco-friendly things I would recommend taking for a week on the boat

Green soap

Use only eco-friendly cleaning products including your dish soap, shampoo, and shower gel to ensure the chemicals aren’t leaking into the ocean

Natural detergent

Even though I did laundry only once that week, I wish I brought my eco-friendly detergent that I shared earlier on my blog, recipe here.

Reef-friendly sunscreen

We used reef-friendly SunBum sunscreen that we bought at the Tahiti airport duty-free. I have never used SPF 70, but I really appreciated it because the sun was so hot starting at 8 am.
