Do you ever feel like the seasons just slip by? Summer disappears in a blink, and somehow it’s already fall. This year, I don’t want the season to rush past me, so instead of making a Pinterest-y bucket list of ‘must-dos,’ I sat down and asked myself what I actually want.
Here are the questions I asked myself (and maybe you’ll want to try, too):
What did I not get to do last season (summer)?
The key here isn’t to dream up what would be “cute for Instagram,” but to remember what was truly on my mind and slipped through the cracks:
- I didn’t eat enough peaches, watermelons, or tomatoes
- I never went for a swim in the sea
As for me, I barely had time to wander around the G city.
How do I usually spend fall? What do I tend to do—or not do?
If I’m being real: I spend more time under blankets, I walk less, I binge-watch shows, and I move my body a lot less.
What feels important for me this season (specific fall plans)?
- Splash in puddles like a kid
- Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte with friends
- Go hiking in the mountains
- Refresh my fall wardrobe
- Host a Harry Potter–themed party at home
How can I actually keep up with the things I enjoy, knowing my usual habits?
- Order rain boots
- Say “yes” to meeting friends even if the weather is gloomy
- Set a PSL (pumpkin spice latte) date
- Book a mountain hotel for a hike
- Order party supplies
- Send my friends a poll with party date options
These simple questions turn my vague ‘someday’ dreams into an actual plan. The last thing I want? To blink and let fall slip away… again.
